Magnificent Flying Carpet: Requires level 70, tailoring (450). Use: Calls forth and dismisses a flying carpet. This is a very fast rug. This mount can only be summoned in Outland and Northrend. Requires artisan riding skill or higher to use.

[Cooking] Delicious Roasted Boar - Creates a delicious roast boar platter for you and your friends to enjoy. Group food! Mages, look out.

Blacksmithing gets recipes to socket bracers and gloves, each requiring four Saronite Bars and usable a level 60 or higher item. (For more new blacksmithing patterns, check out our rundown of recipes added in the latest beta patch!)
  • Engineering:
    • Scrapbot construction kit - Creates a mechanical vendor that buys anything. The scrapbot leaves after 5 min. I hope the mats will be relatively cheap. This is a great idea, as it's one of the best parts of the new repair bots, for when you don't need repairs.
    • Nitro Boosts - Permanently attaches overpowered nitro boosts to a pair of boots, allowing a skilled engineer to greatly increase run speed for until cancelled. The nitro boosts can only be activated every 5 minutes. There's that rocket-boots enchant. There's also a parachute cloak one listed.
    • Hyperspeed Accelerators - Permanently attaches hyperspeed accelerators to a pair of gloves, allowing a skilled engineer to increase their haste rating by 340 for 8 sec. The gloves can only be activated every few minutes.
    • Gnomish Lightning Generator - Generates a bolt of lightning to strike an enemy for 2250 to 2750 Nature damage. This entire device is made of metal, and the bolt occasionally hits you.

Pushback has always been the bane of spellcasters and Hunters everywhere, be it in PvP or PvE. The slightest bit of damage, even the environmental kind, can make a quick 1 second cast somehow stretch into eternity. However, as of the latest Beta build, the eternal cast time may be a thing of the past thanks to some new spell pushback rules.

When you're casting a spell, the first two hits will add .5 seconds each to the cast time. Every other cast will have no effect. For channeled spells, the first 2 hits will take 25% each off the total duration, while all subsequent hits will have no effect.

This sounds like it should be a pretty awesome change overall, especially for solo or small group PVE, where one who has drawn aggro or otherwise lost control of their target can rest assured that it will take them only a single second longer to get off a heal or cast a crowd control spell. Here's hoping this is one change that makes it to the live servers.

Of course, it's probably still worth taking that pushback protection talent if you can. There's no use tempting fate, and that 1 extra second can be a surprisingly long time when you're under pressure.

Thanks to everyone who pointed this out!

MMO-Champion has just discovered 3 interesting new tailoring patterns in the Wrath Beta files. Rather than things you can sell, however, these are soulbound cloak embroideries, and at least at first glance, they seem very nice indeed.
  • Lightweave Embroidery: Embroiders a subtle pattern of light into your cloak, giving you a chance to cause an additional 800 to 1000 Holy damage when you damage an enemy with a spell. You can only embroider your own cloak and embroidering your cloak will cause it to become soulbound.
  • Darkglow Embroidery: Embroiders a magical pattern into your cloak, giving you a chance to restore 300 mana when you cast a spell. You can only embroider your own cloak and embroidering your cloak will cause it to become soulbound.
  • Swordguard Embroidery: Embroiders a magical pattern into your cloak, causing your damaging melee attacks to sometimes ignore 1000 of your target's armor. You can only embroider your own cloak and embroidering your cloak will cause it to become soulbound.

There's no word as of yet as to what's need to create these embroideries.

There's something for everyone here, including amazingly enough, physical DPSers. I suppose there may be a Rogue or Warrior out there who's taken tailoring to make bags or provide spellthread or extra cloth cooldowns to their guild, and now it looks like their offbeat profession choice gets to pay off. For spellcasters, that holy damage shouldn't be resisted by too many enemies, and healers or mana-using DPSers looking for a bit more mana regeneration should enjoy the Darkglow Embroidery.

Hopefully the proc rate on these beauties is enough to justify taking them over a cloak enchantment, but I imagine that if it's not, Blizzard will bump it up.

Professions: Engineering and Armorsmith Love

Drysc interviewed Jon LeCraft, the designer behind World of Warcraft's professions. In two more general areas, he says he doesn't want people to have to grind out max tradeskilling to get their ultimate BoP gear, so we should expect more stuff similar to how most goggle recipes only take 350 skill. They also want to cut back on world drop recipes, but are still looking at finding ways to differentiate individual crafters. One possibility offered was the idea of tokens from daily quests that you could then spend on recipes. Each individual crafter would spend their tokens differently, thus allowing for some uniqueness.

Here's some of the more specific new tidbits he let out:

  • In Blacksmithing news, they say armorsmithing was probably legitimately underpowered, and they're hoping to make it more desirable and competitive with weaponsmithing in WoTLK.
  • They feel they probably overnerfed engineering a bit in Burning Crusade, and are hoping to offer new upgrades to many old level 60 trinkets that fell by the wayside. In addition, Items like the Parachute Cloak and Rocket Boots will be reimagined as enchantment-type items that you can attached to existing armor.
  • Yes, they probably overpowered tailoring with Frozen Shadoweave and similar sets, and won't go that far with it in Wrath.
  • They'd like to make Fishing a bit less boring in the future. It will still be relaxing, but it will hopefully be a bit more interactive.
  • For alchemy, they're looking at new ways to handle Discovery. Discovery will probably be either much more intuitive (such as making resistance potions to discover a cauldron) or reserved only for "fun" type potions.
  • In leatherworking, they like where Drums ended up after 2.3, but they think they were a bit too conservative overall.
  • For inscription, the plan is to have 15-20 glyphs for each class, including some that may affect talents. Also, they may great affect how the skill works or require tradeoffs, such as making Last Stand only give 20% of max health, but reducing the cooldown to 2 minutes. Knockback on fireball, the big original example of glyphs, is out.

THIS MOMENT IN VENT
There are too many times something is said in vent that we all wish we would have saved just to be able to hear again on a later date. This is the place such moments will be cherished forever. Well, at least cherished by those not implicated in any particular clip.
MALICIOUS CHAT
Mal is a nice korean paladin who occasionally just can't keep himself from discussing the things that piss him off. Black people, religious people, gold farmers, and generally anyone, can send him off into a rambling mess of angry QQing. We feel it is our duty to share his rants because we want to help him produce public discourse and debate (ok, the truth is he tends to say things at 2am that we just can't help but chuckle at and figured we should share).
